Greetings Humphrey Families,

Like all of you, I am disappointed about how the recent upward surge in Corona Virus cases in New Mexico will continue to impact the schools. In particular, I am going to miss the school environment during the holiday season. We won’t have our classroom Thanksgiving and winter celebrations. Seasonal celebration with the staff will not happen as well.

Goodbyes between friends before winter break will have to be done over Google Meets and Zoom. And we just found out from Wednesday night’s school board meeting that remote learning will be extended to at least January 19th.

We need to make the best of it though. Please encourage your child to stay engaged in the remote environment. They need to participate in class discourse, attend regularly, and do assignments on time.

I have been most impressed with all the HH teachers! Given that their professional development for remote learning was minimal at best. All HH teachers have risen to the occasion with grace and professionalism!

They use technology resources, depth of knowledge questioning, are aligning their lessons to the standards, and most importantly, staying connected with their students to enhance social-emotional learning.

We are all in this together and as a community, we are going to make this work and we will make it work well! I am VERY thankful to work with such a great group of students, parents, and teachers.

This Thanksgiving, I will remember to be grateful for all of you! I wish a successful student conference week followed by an enjoyable Happy Thanksgiving to each and every one of you!
