***3-27-2020 --- HUMPHREY CLOSURE UPDATE***
Posted 3/27/20

March 27, 2020

Dear Humphrey Families~

Unprecedented times we are in- as we travel in uncharted territory with the whole country-all of us are taking a half step at a time.

I want you to know that APS will be developing a Continuous Learning Plan for ALL students (pre-K to 12th grade) for the rest of the school year. This plan will be implemented through a Distance Learning Platform for ALL grades. APS Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) has been working tirelessly on what curriculum will be taught for each grade level, what is the essential standards that need to be mastered for each student to move forward along with ensuring the staff has the knowledge base to implement distance learning AND that all families are connected with technology devices for this type of platform.

Be on the look -out for surveys from APS Technology-asking pertinent questions about internet and devices.

There is a lot of heavy lifting that will be going on for this type of learning. The district hopes to have everyone up and running the week of April 13-please stay tuned as this could change in a moments’ notice. Please know that distance learning will be happening-and everyone is working at capacity to make this happen. Until then, your child’s teacher will continue with supplemental online learning activities.

I applaud your child’s teacher who has been doing Zoom conferences, Dojo learning and  presentations and daily email check ins-

Registration for the 2020-2021 school year is ON HOLD (no on-line registration or registration packets)-more 411 will be forthcoming as we progress with this school year AND how registration will be done.

As of now-we are waiting to hear when students can come to the building to retrieve their classroom belongings. Information will be sent out by school messenger when we are given direction on how to have people in the building. Like I said-uncharted territory.

Who would have guessed that school as we know it would change after March 13? One’s family life was at full throttle, lots of activities here and there AND all of sudden-everything comes to a halt. We are faced with slowing down and learning the “we” of family. How fortunate for us to have internet, TV, BOOKS, take-out food, grocery stores etc. Even in these uncertain times-there are always gifts to be had and wonderment to find.

Please stay safe and healthy-know that ALL of you are missed terribly!!

Virtual Hugs-
