Student Council!

Hawk families,

It's that time of year!! Time for Student Council!! This year we are making some big changes. We have gathered parents, teachers, staff, and students concerns/ideas for Student Council and have come up with a new way of running the program!

*Student Council will be held on Thursday mornings from 8:15-8:45 in Mrs. Grindstaff's room

 * Students will first be elected into Student Council by representative elections (held in/by the 3rd-5th grade classroom teacher).

*Student Council representatives will be the only candidates allowed to run for President, Vice President, and Secretary.

*Officer speeches/elections will take place during a Student Council meeting.

Mrs. Grindstaff will be visiting all 3rd-5th grade classrooms this week to discuss the above changes and hand out application forms. Students interested in Student Council will need to fill out the application and return the form to their teacher on/by Monday, October 2nd!

****Our class will require students to write a short speech (2 minutes or less) explaining why they would be the best representative for our classroom. Speeches will start October 4.

Curriculum Night

Just a reminder...4th grade's Curriculum Night is Tuesday, August 29 from 5:30pm-6:00pm. I will be reviewing our classroom curriculum, procedures, and routines. Hope to see you all there! (*Please leave the kiddos at home)

Solar Eclipse Plan

Monday is an exciting day for us with the solar eclipse. I am currently in the process of getting eclipse glasses donated to our class. If your child has the proper eyewear, please let me know and send them on Monday. If you or anyone you know can help us get glasses we would appreciate your help.

If you prefer to have your child not participate, I will have the live eclipse streaming on the board in the classroom as well. This is such a neat opportunity for our class. Thank you for your support!
